Work has begun over the past few weeks on the Coach Hall. It is in need of some renovation, both inside and out, which we will be documenting over the next few months.

First up: The windows, which were in a bad state of repair, with rotting sills and loose panels. We're sure you'll agree that the new sills and paintwork look much better and more in keeping with the upgraded frontage of the main building.

After a lengthy project, work has now been completed on repairing the render on the main building and re-painting the whole of the exterior. As well as protecting the fabric of the building, the work has transformed the Chantry, which had become very tired-looking. The prominent building now fits in beautifully with the assortment of pastel coloured houses along the length of historic Castle Street.

New heating systems have successfully been installed and commissioned in the Chantry main building and Coach House. The project was brough forward and run at a very fast pace in order to get the work completed during covid lock-down, ready for the winter. The contractors, HPR Services, worked very quickly in challenging circumstances and delivered the project ahead of schedule and on budget.

These new systems replace very old storage heaters and will ensure conrollable temperatures at all times in our rooms as well as massively reducing our energy costs and wasted heat.

The Trustees are very grateful to South Gloucestershire Council for the support of this important project
