Office hours - 09:00 to 12:30 Monday to Friday mornings and 18:45 to 20:15 Monday to Thursday evenings.

Bar opening hours - 20:00 to 23:00 Monday to Friday and 12:30 to 14:00 Sunday lunchtime.

Welcome to The Chantry in Thornbury, South Gloucestershire.

The Chantry is a fine listed building dating in part from Tudor times.  For the past forty  years it has been owned by and served as the home of Thornbury and District Community Association (TDCA), a registered charity serving the people of Thornbury and the surrounding area.

Where are we?

From the North – M5 Junction 14 Falfield.  Take A38 south and then turn right onto the B4061 to Thornbury.  You will come onto Gloucester Road until a mini roundabout, turn right.  At the Victorian pump, turn right again.  The Chantry is then approx 175 metres down on the right hand side just passed the Council Offices on the left.

From the South – M5 Junction 16 Almondsbury/Thornbury.  Take A38 north.  At the second set of traffic lights (approx 5 miles) Thornbury will be  signposted to the left (B4061).  Follow this road passed the Leisure Centre and straight on through the town.  Keep left at the Victorian pump at the end of the town.  The Chantry is then approx 175 metres down on the right hand side just passed the Council Offices on the left.

Association Profile

The Community Association is a registered charity governed by volunteer Trustees and run by part-time paid staff.  TDCA owns the Chantry and runs it as a Community Centre for the benefit of the residents of Thornbury and the surrounding area.

A wide range of users and organisations take full advantage of the facilities on offer at The Chantry on a regular basis to provide an extensive number of options for Thornbury to enjoy.  Other groups find the centre is ideal for their own meetings from time to time.  Full details about our main users and member groups are given on other pages.

Please contact the Chantry office if you would like more information or would like to book a room.  The office is manned on a part-time basis – it is generally open between 09:00 to 12:30 Monday to Friday mornings and 18:45 to 20:15 Monday to Thursday evenings.  Please note that office hours are reduced during school holiday periods.  There is answerphone if you would like to leave a message and we will endeavour to call you back as soon as possible.
