U3A (The University of the Third Age) is a UK-wide movement which brings together people in their ‘third age’ to develop their interests and continue their learning in a friendly and informal environment.

If you’re wondering what we mean by the third age - it is a time after you have finished working full-time or raising your family and have time to pursue your interests or just try something new.

U3A has a ‘university’ of members who draw upon their knowledge and experience to teach and learn from each other but there are no qualifications to pass – it is just for pleasure. Learning is its own reward.

It's all voluntary; a typical U3A will be home to many activity groups covering hundreds of different subjects - from art to zoology and everything in between.

Formed over 30 years ago, there are now over 1,000 U3As across the UK, with thousands of interest groups between them and more than 400,000 members nationally - plus we’re growing every day.

Jo Jingles

If you have a baby or preschool child, why not come along to an award winning  Jo Jingles class held at The Chantry, Thornbury on a Wednesday or Easter Compton on a Monday?

My name is Tracy Bees and I have been teaching Jo Jingles since 2008. I am proud to say I won the Most Outstanding Activities Leader for the Under 5's - West & Wales' in the What's On 4 Kids Awards last year!

Our fun, innovative groups are available for children aged three months to five years. Each 45 minute session is jam-packed full of activities which teach children about rhythm, melody, lyrics, movement and group-interaction.

We have:
♫ Age specific classes - from baby groups, toddler sessions to pre-schoolers.
♫ Small, friendly groups.
♫ Weekly educational themes.
♫ A mix of traditional & newer songs
♫ A variety of music styles - unaccompanied singing, pre-recorded music, upbeat children's songs and often put to Blues, Jazz, Country & Western, Rock and Classical Music
♫ Real, yet child-sized percussion instruments.
♫ Educational themed weeks, such as farm, seaside, weather, transport, colours or numbers.
♫ A huge range of props, including parachute, scarves, streamers, feathers, beanbags, pompoms, inflatable's, soft toys, teddies, picture boards, bubbles and many more.

Bookings are now being taken for next term, but places are limited. Timetables and further class information are available at www.jojingles.com or email Tracy at jojingles.bristol@gmail.com.
